Scam Skate Shoe

The Scam came out at a moment when skate footwear was still figuring out what it was supposed to be. 1993, etnies drops this and sets a reference point, cupsole construction, mid-puff padded tongue and collar, layered suede upper with triple stitching in the wear zones that matter. The classic tread pattern on the outsole ended up in more skate videos and photos from that era than most people remember.

The reissue doesn't update anything. Molded TPR ollie guard, the same cupsole, the small rubber etnies heel logo, the '90s tread. It skates with that slightly chunkier, more protected feel that the cupsole was built to deliver, more impact absorption than a slim vulc, a profile that was considered clean then and still holds up now. Comes with extra laces and a retro shoebox.

Runs wide and true to size. If the Kingpin and Callicut sit on the chunkier end of the etnies lineup, the Scam is where that tradition started, before either of them existed.

FAQ

Where can I find size, shipping and returns help?

For the size question and order info, go straight to the Help Center. That is where etnies links out to the Size Guide, Shipping & Delivery and Returns pages, which is the safest move because policy details can vary by region.

What is the Animal-Friendly collection?

The Animal-Friendly collection is where etnies groups the specific styles and colorways made without animal-derived upper materials. Instead of leather or suede, these shoes use premium synthetics, canvas or recycled textiles while keeping the same skate-first mindset. Important detail: only the colorways shown in that collection are animal-friendly, not every version of the same model.

What is Skate for Change?

Skate for Change is etnies’ give-back program for nonprofit and grassroots organizations using skateboarding to create positive change for young skaters. It supports these groups with gear, funding, and visibility so they can build community, teach life skills, and create safer places to ride. It’s Etnies putting action behind the culture, not just talking about it.

Which etnies shoes are best for impact skating?

If impact protection is the priority, go with Marana Michelin. It is the clearest answer for heavy skating, stair sets and long sessions because it combines a supportive cupsole, Michelin outsole durability and a protective midsole. If you want something a little lighter, look at Serin Michelin or other cushioned cupsole models with more padding than slim vulc styles.

Do etnies shoes fit true to size?

Yes. Most etnies shoes fit true to size, but the feel varies by model. Classics, puffy feeling and wide like the Kingpin, Callicut, Sal 23 and Fader , while the Jameson 2 Eco, Barge LS, and Scout are slimmer and more streamlined. If you’re between sizes, use the size guide and choose based on how tight or loose you like to skate or walk with your shoes.

Which etnies shoes work best for wider feet?

If you like a roomier, more puffy fit, start with Kingpin, Callicut and Snake. Those heritage shapes carry more volume through the upper, tongue and collar. If you want a wide-feeling skate shoe without going full bulky, Marana and Fader sit in the middle.
