Bio:
There has been many key moments in history that define Manchester and its full and varied scene, like the birth of The Stone Roses, Joy Division, Factory Records, Hacienda, Happy Mondays etc. Like them Joe Gavin has started off in the background and worked his way forward to being one of the lynchpins of the Manchester scene and a key player in modern street skating throughout the UK.
Joe first was first noticed in 2004, when a tour video was released that included many of the key players in UK skateboarding. Joe stood out with his unique and effortless style and held his own amongst the rest of them. After the guys at Harmony skateboards saw that video they knew they had to put him on the team! Joe has shown constant progression since then and has averaged a full video part every year full of the raw talent and effortless style that he possesses. Always finding time to get photos/filming duties done for his sponsors while keeping part of his local scene by filming, editing and producing quality Manchester based scene videos that showcase his fellow skaters more than himself. For the past two years he has been working on his 'Pusherman' video project with fellow film maker Sean Lomax, which promises to highlight the banging scene that Joe is proud of as well as showing what he has to offer to both the UK and Europe.
Joe only works when he has to and can be seen in Manchester's longest running skateshop 'Note' when he is feeding that need rather than out skating. Joe is very level headed and becoming a pro skater has never made him snub or look down at the kids that frequent the store and is always interested in spots they have found or things that they filmed. Joe will push anyone that is keen and wants to better themselves, like himself before them. While saying all this though, Joe often shuns the limelight of comps, demos and the praise of fellow skateboarders to concentrate on what he loves and does best, street skating.
