BK's Soooo Street
by: Alex | Friday, August 1, 2008
And so ends the BMX Street comp at X Games 14. After an impressive final round exhibition of what I can only assume were moves meant to intimidate dudes and attract ladies, Brian Kachinsky finished 4th and continues to intimidate and attract.

BK On The Course!

X Games starts today but Brian Kachinsky got started without us! He qualified 4th yesterday in a field of pretty heavy hitters and is on track to take home a medal and some dough.
Look for him to tear it up this afternoon, 4:30pm at the Staples Center in the first ever X Games BMX Street Competition here in LA.
Oh and... check out this BK feature on expn.com.

Kachinsky Checks In

Ketchup with Kachinsky:
Hi etnies!
Just wanted to say hi and share a few pics from the past couple of weeks! A couple of weeks ago I did a show with DK bikes and friends in Daley Plaza downtown Chicago to help promote "ride your bike to work week". It was a pretty cool event/idea. At one moment I put my bike down to take a break only to get showed up by the Chicago Bull's mascot.

Fun was had, backflips were done and the weather cooperated. It's not everyday you actually get "asked" to ride Daley Plaza, typically its us being "asked to leave".
The following week was Dew tour in Baltimore, "The greatest city in America".

Shortly after this photo was taken we rode through one of the worst neighborhoods I've ever ridden through. The best part of Baltimore and Dew tour was being able to ride street both in B-more and our nation's capital.

Washington DC has some amazing stuff to ride, with the help of Jon Saunders and friends we had a blast and rode all around the city which also happened to be Go Skateboarding Day. Freedom Plaza in DC was completely packed with skaters. It was very impressive how many people there were skating and watching. I dream of a Go BMX day... someday it will happen.
Back in Chicago things have been adventurous as well. For example, I was riding a local school just blocks from my house and out of nowhere a van pulled up with tons of cameras, boom mics, a director, sound crew and these three lovely ladies.

It turns out they were filming for a music video of some sort. I actually can't even remember the name of their band/group but I had never heard of them. Needless to say they were the last people I thought would ever come film at the spot I always ride. Wow.
Thats all for now, more soon about my new venture "spot doctors" check back for details.
Off to Cologne, Germany this week as well for the Suzuki BMX Masters... I'm rooming with Osato so this is going to be a good one!
later!

More From Kachinsky

Brian Kachinsky checks in again...
Hi Everyone!
I am enjoying some time at home until I leave later this week for Brazil where I will participate in the X-Games Brazil next weekend. I'm glad I was home around this time because I got the chance to ride Undercover skatepark one more time before it closes its doors for good.

The last session was good and went into the early hours of the morning. I was stoked/pumped/psyched to ride the park one last time since I've had hundreds of awesome sessions there over the past 5 years.

This park has kept the Appleton scene alive and well and it will be sad to see it go. Thanks Mark Hilson for keeping the park going for as long as he did!
On the upside, it's been warming up and I've gotten to do some more riding/exploring around the Chicago area. Isn't it funny how sometimes the greatest things in life can be right under your nose and you don't realize it? For example this week I found a cool kinked rail and abandoned school not too far from my house. Perhaps even more amazing than that is this fountain that's down the block from me as well.

Now, I've been fortunate enough to see some pretty amazing fountains in my day. From the Buckingham fountain (Chicago), Krisik (Prague), Bellagio (Vegas), Manneken pis (Brussels) and many more; I must say that this one is the shit. It blows the rest out of the water and it's right down the street!

More soon after Brazil!
Love,
Brian
Kachinsky Checks In!

BK's words from the road
Hey Ya'll,
I just thought I'd check in before I board my plane to Austin. I am currently in Arizona where I've spent the past week riding and hanging out in the desert, mountains, sun, snow, skateparks, trails, schools, ditches, and other Arizona establishments.

Thanks to Adam Baker for being a good host and riding buddy. He did flairs, told funny stories, introduced me to some new vocabulary, drank obscene amounts of Arizona iced green tea and has a nice, well-developed beard.

He also made me ride trails, which was amazing; I even took a pic of dirt on my bike since I usually only ride trails once in a blue moon.

The parks were amazing as well. The Chandler bike park was my favorite—no thanks to my rental car getting backed into, or my bike being stolen by a 9-year-old kid (got it back), or me getting sick... but somehow it was still a really, really fun trip. I think warm weather, sunshine, Adam Baker and KC Badger had a lot to do with that.
Thanks guys!
