Eliana & Poseiden Skate Baja

Jun 28 2011 / Tuesday

Skate Baja, A. C. [non-profit] in collaboration with Poseiden Foundation were able to bring Leticia Bufoni, Eliana Sosco and Jessica Florencia along with Ana Paula Negrao for a visit to Baja California during the celebration of “La Baja Patina”.

La Baja Patina is a series of weekly skate gatherings organized and sponsored by local skateshops and skate companies celebrating Go Skateboarding Day in a different city each Saturday during 5 weeks. Poseiden Foundation and the girls were part of the second week in a 2-day visit to Ensenada, June 23 and 24, and then a full day in Mexicali, June 25th.

The group met up with Daniela Ramírez, President of Skate Baja, in Encinitas after the Transworld Go Skateboarding Day event and they traveled directly to Ensenada, Baja California, México.

In Ensenada the girls visited two skate spots, “La Gaviota” and “Josefa”, where they skated with about 30 local skaters each day and organized quick best trick contests to give out prizes they had brought from sponsors like: Etnies, Hoopla, Bones, Billabong, Urgh, Skatepark Of Tampa, Few, Emily Strange, Adidas, Mahfia.
In between the two days there was time for the girls to skate another local spot, “El Arroyo”, where they were the first female skaters to really shred the spot. There was also some down time at the beach and at a carnival that was in town.
Friday lunch was hosted by a local skateshop, Fu Manchu, followed by an autograph signing at the store after which the group headed to Mexicali.

Saturday morning the Mexicali heat was intense so the day started slow. In the afternoon the girls headed to the Río Nuevo skatepark for the La Baja Patina event which started off with the premiere of Red Line skateboards & Cripta wheels promo. The girls were pretty excited to meet up with the team riders Max Barrera and Sammy Montano as well as Julio Telles “Canibal”.

After the premiere everybody headed out motivated to skate. As more shade was making the day more enjoyable the girls with help from a couple of local skaters got a best trick contest going, for beginners. There were about 30 sign-ups, all kids younger than 15 years old, all pretty good skaters. They competed for 6 prizes from Poseiden’s sponsors.
After the group photo with all the winners the group joined local skaters to watch the Mexico vs USA soccer game. The event ended with a best trick contest for experts and a lot of smiling faces.

All the kids were pretty stoked with the prizes that were given out during those 3 days and happy to see that girls also skate. They were all very grateful and helped out picking up trash in each skate spot.

Local organizers and sponsors were: Skate Baja, A. C., Fu Manchu skateshop, Red Line skateboards, Cripta wheels, Puerta 29 skate mag and Pyro skateshop.
Baja California truly and genuinely enjoyed this quick visit and hopes to see the Brazilians again soon.

Thanks to Micaela Ramirez of Poseiden Foundation for making all of this possible and the Skate Baja crew: Erick Bio, Bernardo Duarte, Luis Villa and Ruben Torres.
