Autism prevalence has risen 600 percent in the last two decades. Today, one in every 110 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.

etnies and Autism Speaks have partnered to create co-branded kid’s RVM and Fader footwear. A portion of the proceeds of every etnies x Autism Speaks Fader and RVM kid’s shoes sold, with a minimum of $10,000 per year, will be donated to Autism Speaks to help raise awareness and support Autism Speaks in their continued efforts to fund autism research as well develop resources and treatments for those on the spectrum.

  1. My son is Autistic and myself and my families lives have been forever changed since he was diagnosed at age 2. He is now 9 (almost 10) and attends a school specific for Autism and has specialized therapy at home as well. I am grateful for the organizations and businesses like you who are taking a stand and helping families like mine and many others to learn to help our children and to cope with some of the unique stresses and pressure that the parents and siblings undergo.

  4. I think it is awesome what you're doing. I stated buying your brand of sneakers just this year because my 2 year old autistic son really used to make such a fuss about getting his shoes on and when his father came home one day with a pair of Etnies that were Velcro and so easy to put on him we stopped buying other brands. Thank you so much for all you are doing to help people with autism.

  5. So great and positive. I would like to see etnies design a shoe that is Autistic friendly. My son is 11 and autistic. He is just learning to tie his shoes. We have always looked for cool looking shoes that slip on, such as an old school slip on VAN or skater shoe. Design shoes that are cool, no Velcro, just a cool shoe that is autism friendly. Thank you for your support.

  7. As a mother of an autistic 3 yr old and grandma to a 5 yr old with aspergers I just want to say THANK YOU for helping to get this hidden disease out there for more to learn about it. I have so many people tell me my son doesn't look autistic...what does autism look like? Then they watch him for a bit and so to me oh that is what it is.

  8. I think this is great. I hope you come up with a sneaker without shoelaces it would certainly help those parents looking for shoes for their Autistic spectrum disorder kid. Shoelaces can be a hurdle.

  19. Cute shoes for a very worthy cause! As a mom of two girls on the spectrum, I'd like to see more girl friendly colors like pink, purple or lavender. Any plans to do something for girls?

  20. I have a 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter, I have been buying the toddler etnies for the past few years and we all love them!! They are so easy to put on and my son loves his new blue ones! I wore the etnies brand back when I was younger as well....I am so excited and proud that this brand has reached out in support of autism. My nephew is now 9 years old and was diagnosed with autism at age 2. I recently bought him his first pair of etnies also!!

  22. My son, Nolan, is 3 1/2 and has autism. We are strong supporters of those who help bring awareness and understanding to the developmental disorder as it affects all of us. Thank you for helping to get the appropriate infomation out there. I agree with some of the other parents, I would love to see slip on's or shoes with velcro closures. Your support to families like ours means more than you could ever know! Thank you!

  24. This is amazing, Etnies! Thank you so much. My 5 year old daughter is Autistic and I'm so proud that now I'll be able to support two communities near and dear to my heart: Autism & skateboarding!! Both have altered my life in profound ways, though for obviously different reasons. Thank you for being an amazing example for other businesses! And a loving supporter of the Autism community.

  25. nice style and design so cool ... but hoping you can have some shoes too that have magic tapes. my son is austistic too & his having hard time when it comes to shoe laces.. sometimes it even make him loose his temper and end him up for another meltdown when he cant tied the knot good.

  26. Love the Autism Speaks Footwear and they would be truly ASD friendly with velcro like your super toddler shoes laces are too much for many ASD kids.

  27. This is stellar - I love it that companies like you, and Volcom, etc are getting active in the Autism community. It speaks highly of your awareness and will to be a stand-up company! Very admirable! My boy is on the spectrum, and LOVES to skate now (thanks to the ASkate Foundation). If I can pry him out of his SpiderMan shoes, I'm definitely going to put him in some of these.

My only question is - are there any adult sizes? I want a pair too!!!

    Thanks guys!

  28. Why do you not support an autism organization that is skateboard related and actually hands on with autistic kids through skateboarding? it looks like the www.Askate.org people could use your help more than these. Is this just a fundraiser? These shoes have autism awareness on it but none of them target our kids needs? Hmm.... not so sure I support this being that AS isn't skate related and trying to tap into every industry to raise funds for their informational/awareness organization.

  30. It's good that etnies are trying to help people with autism but the shoes, well the one on the top right looks like it's made from artificial swade, the two lower down are high tops and have naff blue and white lines in the middle. The one at the top left is the best and the most autistic friendly with it's smooth leather/fake leather but it's got a stuby toe, I don't have stuby toes. I think their top shoe designers have higher priorities.

  47. I think its awesome that Etnies as a whole is committed to making change in the world. The collab with Autism Speaks is great, watching the video made me smile. It was really cool to see all the pros take time to influence these children's lives. It was obvious that everyone had a great time, and all the parents were super appreciative. But I want 'em in my size! C'mon Etnies, RVM mens 11!
