Rod Harper – Crazy Face Miami, FL
I spent 2010’s New Years in St. Louis freezing in the cold with some friends. The day before I was supposed to fly back to LA Malto called and asked if I wanted to join him and 10 or so friends from KC driving in one mini van down to Miami to escape the brutal Midwest winters. We stayed our friend Josh Crane’s mom’s house where she graciously hosted 10+ skateboarders suffering from cabin fever. It’s the simple things you miss when winter hits. Skating with a t-shirt in the warm sun, driving with the windows down and beer. Man does beer taste so much better when the beer is ice cold and the weather is warm, not the other way around. I liked this photo of Rod Harper’s thiz face because I feel like it sums up how anyone feels finally leaving the cold and coming into the warmth and the fun it brings. Dorking around and skating with your friends, staying up late drinking and just being stupid. I have no clue how Rod made this face, or if he could make it again but I love it.
Devine Calloway – Bummed in the rain Lake Forest, CA
This was taken the day we all left for the Devine Intervention tour this past February of the man himself, Devine Calloway. It rained pretty much every day of this trip so we did a lot of this what Devine is doing here, standing and waiting.
Tyler Bledsoe and Devine Calloway Miami, FL
Most of the team headed back to Miami in March to go to do some signings/demos and get some skating done in the warm sun. We had some fun on da beach, mon. For some reason this photo reminds me of that trip and the good times that were had.
Jose Rojo – Posing somewhere in Kansas
Sometimes driving for hours will turn super mundane things like trying on fake mustaches in grocery stores into the funniest things ever. Jose, Ernie Torres and myself spent a good 10 minutes cracking up while taking a break driving out to KC for Malto’s Shoe release party in April.
Mikey Taylor and Devine Calloway – Skate and Create Warehouse
We spent a good 10 days in this room during Skate and Create. I can still smell the room when I look at this photo and a lot of time was spent in it drinking, having fun and watching some classic skate videos.
Tyler Bledsoe and Devine Calloway – Shooting guns in Seattle
In June we headed up to the northwest to embark on the “Zorchwest” tour of Oregon and Washington. The trip was about 9 days and I think it rained 7 of them. We spent a lot of time in bowling alleys and arcades that trip waiting for the rain to stop. Here Tyler and Devine shoot for the coveted time crisis high score.
Kyle Leeper and Davis Torgerson – Double Rainbow San Diego, CA
Well, we had just seen the Double Rainbow youtube clip and Kyle conveniently has a rainbow extension on his and we thought it’d be funny to edit a clip to him and Davis doing doubles to the video. http://etnies.com/blog/2010/7/19/a-double-rainbow/
Malto and Friends riding bikes Kansas City, MO
Earlier this year Girl and Etnies did a “Deuces Wild” collaboration with Artist Todd Bratrud for one of Malto’s shoes, so naturally they wanted a photo of Sean and the crew getting all deuces wild. We figured it would be fun to have a crew bomb through downtown and ghetto rig my camera to the handlebars of his bike. It was sketchy, but it turned out pretty cool.
Paul Sharpe – Tired Cleveland, OH
Paul Sharpe was brought on board earlier this year as Etnies TM and was pretty much thrown into the deep end. He came on board right as a bunch of things were happening and a few days after Skate and Create we flew out to Cleveland with Mikey, Kyle and Sheckler for an event. I don’t think he’d slept in days. Poor guy looks so exhausted in this photo; you can tell he just wants to sleep for a week. Thanks for all the good times Paul!
Kiss, Anton and Malto in KC
This Halloween Mikey and I flew out to join Davis and Malto in Kansas City. We skated for a week, I got robbed at gunpoint and as you can see in the photo, we partied with Kiss!!!
Ryan Sheckler – Shirt hulk and Gun Show Dallas, TX
If you’ve picked up the latest issue of Thrasher, than you’ve seen this photo in the opening spread of the Etnies KOTR issue. One of the challenges was for someone to rip off their t-shirt and give a gun show in a crowded place. So, what better place than a super crowded sports bar? It was pretty amazing. It was amazing having Sheckler with, he killed it having fun both on and off the board.
Benny Maglinao – etnies logo shaved into his head on KOTR
Our filmer Benny Maglinao shaved the E logo in the back of his head. Benny is the man.
