This stop on the tour was something a little special compared to the others. This is the only stop that we also had some “additional” help getting the crowds riled up... & much to Aaron Ross’s dismay, the crowds weren’t there necessarily to see only him.
Journeys is one of etnies' largest retail accounts & once a year they go all out bringing in the etnies “all star” team of etnies moto guys, BMX team & the skate team, including the one & only Ryan Sheckler (now you know why the crowds turned out). Basically the team would get trampled by teenage girls so they could get to Sheckler… It’s a crazy scene & not something easily explained; you have to experience it to understand. Besides the attraction/distraction of Sheckler, the event had tons of fun things to do. Good food, drinks, Booths to visit & win shit, bands playing (some good, some not so good) & the center piece being an awesome & multifaceted mini ramp for the etnies skaters & BMX team to shred. And with fear of a downpour, the guys made the most of what the ramp had to offer & got to work quickly, laying down some hefty moves. Sergio flowed & aired the ramp like no other. Jamie had more lip tricks than a rapper drinking “Monster”. Tony Hamlin flairing both ways was a sight to see & Morgan's doubles routines with Sheckler were pretty awesome. Although, Morgan decided it would be a great idea to throw his back out on a flair which laid him flat out on the deck for a good period of time. A quick trip to the hospital determined it nothing serious - just rest & pain killers to repair things. All in all, the demos were amazing, but experiencing crowds of that size & the fever pitch they reach every time Sheckler mopped his brow with his shirt or pulled his pants up was all the entertainment anyone could handle.
