Our boys paid a visit to the kiddies of Benjamin Middle School out in Chi-Town, and then we got this letter from a grateful teacher. Such role models, those boys... Gotta love 'em.

Aaron Ross and Brian Kachinsky are full-on super heroes, deserving of tights and floppy capes waving in the wind behind their backs! Not only do they rock the world of BMX, but they also shine as stellar role models for young boys and men, capable of inspiring them to achieve their dreams.

On April 19th, 2010, Brian and Aaron dropped by Benjamin Middle School in West Chicago, Illinois to connect with a few 8th grade students. The visit breathed life back into the school experience for Jose Pineda and Dustin Beck. Aaron and Brian spent several hours with the boys. They talked BMX, favorite foods and places to ride. They also talked about what it takes to be successful in BMX, life and school.

The boys learned that successful BMX riders show up for work on time and speak respectfully to everyone, even people they don’t like. According to Aaron, “There are many great riders that don’t go very far in BMX, because they haven’t learned to be responsible and respectful. “

In addition, the guys also talked about the importance of choosing friends wisely. As Brian said, “It’s weird how you become the people you surround yourself with.” The message here was that if kids choose friends that do nothing all day and make bad choices, they will probably end up doing those same things.

When kids choose friends that keep trying to get better at BMX and life, they will also keep improving. Aaron added, “Never change yourself to impress someone else.”

Finally, Aaron and Brian shared an important message for all kids who would rather be BMXing than doing homework. Aaron admitted, “Pop Tarts are good and homework is not,” but he also wanted kids to remember, “You can sit around all day when you are sixty. Look at what you have right NOW!”

Brian added, “Everything I learned in high school has come back and been part of my life.”

Here at Benjamin Middle School, Aaron and Brian have given Jose and Dustin a second wind to finish the year strong, and stay positive as they move into high school and beyond.

Thank you Aaron and Brian!!!!! You are the best! You make things happen, and we’ll never forget you!
