MFR: "I almost died at X Games this year..."

May 18 2009 / Monday

"I almost died at X Games this year," says Marie-France Roy "The slopestyle course was really tight and challenging. On my first run, I always chicken out. I went down on the rail pad and it turned out that there were some nails sticking out of the box that peeled a big strip of Petex off the base of my board but I didn't notice. My second time hitting the jumps they were so tight that you had to hit them just right. Once I dropped in, I was going to fast so I tried to slow down but the peeled back Petex dug in and sent me. The next thing I knew I was in a back flip. I ended up landing on my head and neck on side of the knuckle. I still didn't know what happened—I thought I was dead. I gradually moved my arms and legs and I was like, 'yes, I'm alive.'" (Photo: Farmer)
