As mentioned before Joe O’Shaughnessy won the etnies EA Skate 2-competition and played Skate 2 against Jason Dill. Joe was kind enough to send us a report which you can read below!
An early train journey from Liverpool started the day and London was the destination. From Euston I got the tube over towards Portobello for a quick stop off for a hearty lunch at S & M (Sausage and Mash) Café.
I then took the short walk towards baysixty6 skate-park taking in some of the local art on the way…a Banksy!
A quick change into my etnies shoes and after an hour or so of getting used to skating again (it’s been 7 years) I was ready for my lesson with a skate pro.
My board skills may have been laughable at the start of my visit but after some great tips and advice from etnies skater Rodney Clarke I felt comfortable on the board – it also helped enormously that I wasn’t falling over every 2 minutes either!!!
Confident but slightly bruised I left the skate-park and headed for my next location.
This next stop was the Electronic Arts (EA) mobile headquarters where I would be having an online session of the EA Sport’s game Skate 2. Oh did I mention I would be playing against professional skateboarder Jason Dill!!! Jason is the type of skater who makes it look so easy and effortless. Look him up to check out his footage as it’s very impressive. Playing over XBOX Live Jason and I had a few great games on Skate 2 and I also had the chance to chat and ask him some questions. I learnt about his $16,000 metal wrist and all sorts of interesting things about him.
The day was fantastic and I genuinely experienced a buzz for skateboarding again. Something that I will be pursuing in the upcoming summer. A big thank you to all the people involved with day, EA sports and etnies.
