LUKE MARKS DOUBLED UP IN OPEN MINI GROMS AND EXPLORER MENEHUENE!
The NSSA Southeast Holiday Contest held at Ponce De Leon Park Saturday December 13, 2008 went off without a hitch. Waves were 2-3 ft in the morning with the high tide coming off a full moon and NW winds. As the day progressed the wind switched NNE 15-20 mph and the swell increased along with the wind. Holiday music, fun waves, and smiling families on the beach added up to great results for the last contest of the 2008-year. Peter Polanski cleaned up in both Open Men's and Explorer Juniors. His fast driving rail-to-rail surfing ultimately proved hard to beat and solidified his two 1st place wins in those divisions. Stephen Kaltenbach captured the FREAK AIRSHOW win and $50 compliments of Freak Traction. Tanner Strohmenger also won big placing 1st in both the Open Juniors and Explorer Boys divisions. His patience for waiting on the better waves in his heats along with his fluid and smooth style set the bar for all the surfers in his heats throughout the day. In our Grom divisions Luke Marks continued his incredibly consistent season taking first place honors for the fifth time this year in Explorer Menehuene and in Open Mini Groms.
