etnies War of The Roses 2009 went off with a bang this past weekend. The UK event took place over two days in two parks - The Works in Leeds and Blackpool’s Ramp City. Leeds was first up with both unsponsored and sponsored categories; the turnout was strong with 300+ people in attendance, and the standard of skating was high from all involved. Tons of good stuff went down, and (most importantly) everyone had a blast - highlights of the day included the ‘blader rail’ action and the bowl session. MVP went to Ben Raemers for his non-stop onslaught all over the park.
After a 3 hour drive, day 2 at Blackpool’s Ramp City was set to be a belter as the park has gone through some recent modernisation in the shape of the new Simparsh bowl and full pipe. Once again there was a heavy attendance from both sponsored and unsponsored skaters - the street section went down well before everyone headed over to the virgin bowl’s first ever jam. Check the link to see what went down. Once again MVP had to be Ben Raemers as he killed it on both the street section and the bowl.
Big thanks go out to all involved, the crews at both parks and the Back Room crew for organising another great event. We’ll be taking it to Scotland for War of The Thistles in May, so check back for more details and footage around that time.
