Despite breaking his finger during the contest, Ryan Sheckler qualified 7th and will be skating in today's X Games finals! With switch kickflips like the one above, did you have any doubts?
More to come, as I'm heading down to the course to watch the Ladies first, followed directly by Men's Street. I was at practice yesterday and Perkins, Elissa, Lorena and Evelien were charging hard, so stay tuned for updates on them and Sheck!

Did you guys notice that Ryan deleted the News section off of his website and replaced it with "Posters?" He did that awhile back, like no more than two weeks ago. Doesn't that make you mad? I mean, what is the point of going to his website anymore? I only went there to read up on his news section and I could care less about all the rest. To me, with the News gone it is just taking up unneccessary space on the Internet.

Etnies, do tell us just how he broke his finger. He probably won't tell us how since his News section is gone. In that picture up there of his face looking at us, I can see the pain in his eyes (his sharp eyes tell the tale and his pupils look sort of big), it must hurt him. That is why he probably got 4th place, because the pain of a broken finger was a distraction for him. Some athletes won't take time out to heal, but I dis-agree somewhat, being that both pain and fear can be a mighty distraction, especially if the brain is continually focused on it. And it is worse if you do not train your brain to ignore them.

I have no problem with athletes functioning on broken bones, though, if they have properly trained their brain to ignore the pain (can learn under an instructor).
