A World Without Pros...

Jan 30 2007 / Tuesday

Consider this before buying your next blank or shop board. Then maybe visit here too and read stuff like this. Then you can read this, and if you aren't sick of it all by then, read this too. Once you're all done, when you go to spend money on a new skateboard, do it wisely...

  2. There's a lot of information to absorb, and I suspect that it is too boring for most kids, even most skaters. The bottom line is this: if you want to support skateboarding, do it by putting your money where your mouth is--back into companies that support skateboarding. Who supports skateboarding? Brands who support pros, contests, magazines, tours, demos, and perhaps most importantly, videos. If you simply want to skate for the lowest price possible, hey, that's your right to choose, but remember, if price is all that matters, you may not have a choice in the future to buy your board anywhere but WalMart or Target, because skateboard shops cannot compete against those stores, and will go out of business. Skateboarding has soul, and to protect that soul, we must keep it alive and growing. Buying SKATEBOARDING products does that. Buying PROFIT products does not.

  3. Those are some deep words man. What if I Buy WORLD Industries At academy?

  4. But the whole deal is not about walmart or target it's about skate companies saying NOT to buy buying blanks and shop boards. the thing is that skating hit a boom with a lot of money starting to come in during the late 90's and then hitting a all time high in 2000 till a few years ago. Pros could live a great life with a number or nice cars big houses and what ever else there heart i know some pros where good with their money and used it and kept it in the right places...but the times are changing and putting the blam on shop boards and blanks is bull shit...Skate Shops are the HEART of the skate world in your local area and do alot for your local towns with contest and getting shit built..and big named brands in MALL's and fucking with the companys have to get out of the MALLS and into the shops where they belong...Its one thing to say support your favorite skater when the price of a pro board is too damn high and people dont have the money to buy a new board every few weeks or everytime they break one...if a blank is 25 bucks and a pro board is 50 and i need to eat...what is the choice...i was around the last time skating died and i will be around when it dies again...Im sorry to the pros and companies who are going to suffer but that is the world we live in...i love skating i really do but dont dare put all the blame of blanks or shops....Everyone is at fault!

  5. I cant believe you take the time to write that. skateboarding is what you make it, and it doesnt really matter if you back a company or not. I personally dont back companies like Krew. Theyre too greedy with their 70 dollar tight ass jeans that are 30 extra dollars just cause there Grecos, what the fuck is wrong with skateboarding. Pro everything, pro jeans, pro sweaters, even pro wife beaters what the hell.

    i dont care

  6. i kinda agree with 'i dont care' with the skating is what you make it but pros have spent most if not all of there life skating because its what they made it and if that means adding $25 to a board or whatever(im in scotland so i dont know about $) so that they can continue making it what they want it to be good on them.

  7. Ok so you dont back some companies and you back others....that is fine there is no problem with that...i also back some companies and stay away from others...but i Do have a problem when big name companies are telling kids what to support and what not to...i really dont care about pro skaters...really i dont...i enjoy seeing a new vid while i am at the shop or befor a skate session but saying not to support shop decks (that are Blanks) is kind of a scapegoat for the real problems in skating today...i have never met a shop owner that was super rich off his or her shop, they get by selling what they can and do a lot for skating...i am not telling you WHO to buy from i am just giving another point. I buy pro boards a lot of the time and have a few blanks laying around if i need a board quick...skating it ment to be a free choice of what you do on a board and what you ride...and for the comment "i cant belive you took the time to write that" i put myself through university and had to learn to i got pretty quick at worries mate.

  11. You know what you guys are right its a doudle edge sword where we are at a situation were the companies are exaggerating with pants and sweaters but boards are another thing pro wheels and trucks are the same as the pants and sweaters you just need a good pair and your settled but boards chip, break, and are expensive but i love it so much id rather buy a blank to keep skating than buying a 55 dollar POPWAR board even though they are pretty good but ive got to save some green
