etnies' Jim McNeil was one of five riders to make it to the Freestyle finals at X Games this year. Qualifying fourth, McNeil knew he had to step it up to pull off his first X Games medal. Jim did just that. Huge flip whips, perfectly executed KOD's, no-footed nacs, and what looked like a no-footed can to KOD, were all nuts. But Jim's flip tricks are what separated him from the pack. Backflip seat grabs and seat grab Indian airs (no one else was doing that shit!), flip nacs, no-handed flips and backflip Cordova's!!!
Front brake standing burnouts are hard to do.
Talking to Deegan afterwards, he said he thought McNeil got shafted by the judges and deserved a better score. "He was taking more risks than anyone out there," Deegs said. Personally, I agree. You can't really argue with the General now can you?
But everyone else was on their game, too, and threw down some solid runs. In the end the judges placed McNeil in fourth, just .80 of a point behind the Bronze medal position. Congrats Jim and great job! Next year it's on!
