The anticipation leading up to this weekends AMA Supercross in Orlando Florida was that of the season opener in Anaheim, minus the rain. All of the big dogs (Reed, Carmichael and Stewart) were going to be in attendance and no one really knew what to expect.
“Who will win straight up, no crying and no excuses, when all the players are back healthy and racing on the same track?” Sure, a lot of people thought Bubba would run away with it even after not racing since crashing out at Phoenix, and others thought that RC would come back and win because he was so pissed he got smoked by Reed the week before. With all the pressure of the big race RC and Bubba had some critical crashes that cost them any chance getting by Reed. Hot off his huge win last week in Daytona, etnies rider Chad Reed rode the best, had the fewest mistakes and answered the question that was on everyone’s mind with his second win in a row.
Congratulations Chad!
With some troubles, Mike LaRocco and Tim Ferry rounded out the top 10. LaRocco sits in fourth for the THQ AMA Supercross Series points.
1 Chad Reed etnies
2 Ricky Carmichael
3 James M Stewart
4 Kevin W Windham
5 David Vuillemin
6 Sebastien Tortelli
7 Andrew T Short
8 Ernesto Fonseca
9 Mike Larocco etnies
10 Timmy M Ferry etnies
The 125cc main event was pretty exciting too. Josh Hansen, who won last weekend in Daytona, got the holeshot and lead in the beginning but got passed and finished in third place. Josh is now tied for first place in points with Langston.
Kelly Smith got 7th place and Josh Grant came away with 12th.
125cc East
1 David D Millsaps
2 Grant Langston
3 Joshua Hansen etnies
4 Matt Walker
5 Steve Boniface
6 Ryan Mills
7 Kelly D Smith etnies
8 Tucker J Hibbert
9 Troy K Adams
10 Greg S Schnell
11 Chad T Johnson
12 Joshua M Grant etnies
Don’t forget to wake up early next Sunday, March 27 to watch Chad win on ESPN2 starting at 12:00 p.m. EST. There is also a new interview with Reed on RacerX. Supercross takes a week off and comes back to Texas Stadium in Irving, Texas (that’s original) on April 2. With all the momentum and an extra week to prepare, look for Chad to make it three in a row and Josh Hansen to make a run at the 125cc East championship.
