Enter the realm of GvR
On Sunday, March 6, an etnies Goofy vs. Regular contest was held in the Burnside skatepark ann shop in Deventer, Holland. This unique event was held for the first time in Europe, and modelled after the USA version last October. And just as in Lake Forest (CA) last year, Regular won the contest!!!
Dutch skater, Ricardo Paterno, had a perfect second run in the finals, and nabbed first place for team Regular.
Despite the freezing temperature inside the skatepark (just a few degrees Celius above zero!), Ricardo proved, once again, that he’s one of the best skateboarders in Holland.
With big pop and a superclean style he busted huge kickflips over the big driveway, frontside flips over the pyramid, switch backside 180 heelflips over the hip and his ender--a nollie flip boardslide on the flatbar!
Belgium ripper Fabian Verhaeghe (Goofy) ended in second place, followed by Dutch Sebastiaan Vijverberg (Regular) who got third. In total, 100 skateboarders entered the contest, trying to get their piece of the 500 euro purse.
Regular team captain Herm Golbach (owner of the park), and Goofy team captain (Dutch Sole Tech rep) Fred van Schie were both backing their riders, wearing the promo shirts that where also handed out to the kids. The "Fuck Goofy" and "Fuck Regular" stickers were also very popular, as most riders had them on their boards and tees.
