Elissa Steamer left this week for Australia to defend her title at the World Cup of Skateboarding event that will take place this weekend, February 11-13, in Melbourne. She claimed the title last year, which was an incredibly successful one for her with contests—she had five wins total in 2004! She’ll be back from the contest by the middle of next week, when we’ll update you on how things went.

Lauren Perkins also left this week for the contest “down unda.” She didn’t go last year, so she is excited about skating the contest since it usually features a nice course. Unfortunately, we also have some Lauren-related news to report that is not of the good variety. On her trip to Mexico last week to shoot photos with SG Magazine, someone broke into the vehicle in which she was traveling and stole footage, photos and some of Lauren’s personal items. Not only did she lose some of her personal stuff, but the thief got away with all of the work she had done on the trip.
