On Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at 5:00 p.m., the Costa Mesa, Calif., City Council will host a Groundbreaking Ceremony to celebrate the start of the Costa Mesa Skatepark Project. The public is invited to the groundbreaking, which will be held at the future skatepark site at 970 Arlington (on the corner of Arlington and Junipero) near the Costa Mesa Tennis Center and Dog Park, and directly behind the Orange County Fairgrounds.
The project includes the construction of a 15,000 square foot skate park and various other park amenities. Construction is to begin in October of this year, and should be completed within six months. The skatepark itself will have something for everyone, as it will contain a large combined multilevel bowl area, a small bowl area, a small street plaza area and a street course with stairs, rails, quarterpipe launch ramp, a long functional step up area, eurogaps and more.
