Skate Team Report 06-30-04

Jun 30 2004 / Wednesday

What has been going on with the etnies skate team the last few weeks, you ask? Well, keep reading and youll find out some of the latest!

Ryan Sheckler and Stefan Janoski were among a small crew who recently went up to Portland, Oregon for a Zumiez demo on June 22. They did their jobs҅a one-and-a half-hour demo and a three-and-a half-hour autograph signing went down, followed by some much needed chill time later that night. Check the photos.

Stefan is back in Sacramento now after having a hectic few weeks. He did another Zumiez Couch Tour stop in Arizona with Quiksilver before heading out to New York City to skate and hang out for a bit. He went to Portland for the Zumiez demo straight from New York and then headed home. Stefan is now relaxing a bit and doing some skating in El Norte since finishing up his TransWorld Subleties video part and returning from all the traveling. No rest for the weary, though, as he has plans to get started on an interview for one of the mags really soon.

Ryan has also been on quite a mission. Although he is back home in Southern California, the last few weeks for him have been pretty hectic, as well. He was out in Cleveland for the Triple Crown contest (where he placed 3rd!) before heading to Wisconsin to film for the Almost Skateboards video, then it was off to Sacramento for yet another Zumiez Couch Tour stop with Volcom, and then the Zumiez Tour stop in Portland. His future consists of loads of filming for the Almost video and then the Summer World Cup contests in Europe: Dortmund, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic. Then comes the usual round of X Games, Gravity Games, etc.

Bastien Salabanzi is headed to Barcelona (from Paris) to hook up with TransWorld photographer Oli Bartok and Flip filmer / team manager Ewan Bowman. Could yet another amazing interview be in the works? Hell be over there for the next couple weeks before heading to the Summer contests in Europe in mid-July.

Rune Glifberg is expecting his second child any day now. Today may actually be the due date, but no news yet on the kidҒs arrival. Either way, congratulations, Rune! Since the child is due at any point, Rune has been in Copenhagen with his woman, taking care of her and awaiting the birth. He did, however, make a short trip to Marseilles, France for the Quiksilver/etnies Bowlriders contest. Rune killed it, as usual, but wasnt able to put it all together to get into the Top 6. It doesnҒt matter though, cuz all who attended were treated to RuneҒs amazing skills and style.

Thats the news for now. More updates to come soon, keep checking back!
