On The WB: Tuesday 9/8c, Sunday 9/8c
If you're suffering from withdrawal because "The O.C." is on summer hiatus, you're in luck—The WB's "Summerland" is prepared to give you your beach fix.
The hour-long surfside drama, which launched with a two-hour pilot on June 1, follows thirtysomething fashion designer Ava Gregory (Lori Loughlin, "Full House") as she becomes the surrogate mother to her niece and two nephews when her sister and brother-in-law are killed in an accident. The kids—16-year-old Bradin (Jesse McCartney, "All My Children"), 12-year-old Nikki (Kay Panabaker, "The Brothers Garcia") and 8-year-old Derrick (Nick Benson) Westerly—must relocate to Ava's Southern California beach town from their isolated Kansas farm, and career woman Ava has to navigate motherhood for the very first time.
Rounding out the cast of characters are Ava's best friend and business partner, Susannah Rexford (Merrin Dungey, "Alias"); Ava's real estate wheeler-dealer ex-boyfriend, Johnny Durant (Shawn Christian, "As the World Turns," "Shopgirl"); Australian surfer and eternal adolescent Jay Robertson (Ryan Kwanten, "Home and Away"); and surfing instructor Erika Spalding (newcomer Taylor Cole).

Still trying to figure out what you want to be when you grow up? Join the club! Roadtrip Nation's second documentary, "Destination Unknown," follows recent college grads Randy, Ryan and Mike, who are each unsure about what to do with their lives now that they're out of school. The guys—who were selected by Roadtrip Nation to hit the road in June 2003 for its first annual "Behind The Wheel" student-driven roadtrip—travel around the Western United States in Roadtrip Nation's big green RV, interviewing leaders from all walks of life to learn how they found their career paths.
Along the way, they meet with the founder of Nirvana's record label, a Pulitzer Prize winning novelist, the CEO of Levi's, the executive director of Rock the Vote and many others. In interview after interview, the trio is encouraged to define their own paths in life rather than conform to other's expectations.
