On Sunday, August 17, etnies Ryan Sheckler became the youngest skateboarder ever to win an X Games event, at the X Games IX Skatepark Competition in Los Angeles, California
Over the past year, Ryan has been making quite a name for himself in the world of competitive skateboarding. In May, he not only became the youngest pro ever to win a World Cup Skateboarding competition (the Slam City Jam), but he also became one of the youngest in skateboarding history to ever win a pro contest, period. A month later, Ryan followed up this historical win with another 1st place finish at the second stop of the Triple Crown Of Skateboarding in Jersey City, New Jersey. All of these pro wins under his belt already, and Ryan is only thirteen years old!
Being judged by the better of two runs didn't seem to matter too much for Ryan at the X Games, as both of his runs were perfect. Landing every trick and connecting them back-to-back in amazing lines throughout the whole course, Ryan could have won the X Games Skatepark competition with either of his runs. From feeble grinds on the rail to frontside flips and Caballerials over the hips, Ryan skated the contest like a veteran pro.
etnies would like to congratulate Ryan Sheckler as this year's X Games IX Skatepark Gold medalist! Congrats, Ryan!
