Summer Travel Season In Full-Swing

Jul 7 2003 / Monday

Mike Escamilla
just returned from the World's in Beja, Portugal. This was the first contest Mike has ridden in over two years, due to injuries and general contest burnout. When the dust settled, Mike took home the 5th place prize. Mike left for a super-secret Tony Hawk project on Tuesday morning for a couple of weeks. After that, hell travel more--ending up at Woodward for the CFB X-Games qualifier.

After getting home from Props Mega Tour 2, Taj Mihelich
was stoked to get back into his regular riding routine--hitting the Skatepark of Austin with that awesome bowl and riding the T1 ramp that may possibly go under some more changes here in the future. Taj has also been riding the 9th street trails with etnies teammate Sandy Carson and other select friends. Taj also put a new bike together at Empire BMX with his new prototype tire from Primo. Taj has been putting in the mega overtime at T1, staying there until the wee hours of the morning getting projects done. Besides that, he has been relaxing, playing his bass guitar and hanging with Roscoe.

Joe Rich
, Ruben Alcatraz
, Garrett Byrnes--The T1 World Tour continues. The crew was just in Norway last week, and is now in Scandinavia. Check out for more info.

After getting his full cast off and getting a half cast put on his leg, Nate Wessel
attended etnies teammate Dave Freimuth's wedding in Appleton, Wisconsin on June 21. Nate then went back home before going to Woodward camp for a couple of days to hang-out with the kids and also go over designs for the next X-Games park course. Nate then headed down to Florida to hang-out with his girl, Rhonda, where he was through the 4th of July holiday. Now he will be getting another check-up on his leg to see if he can get the cast off and then start rehab.

Sandy Carson
has been moving house and is still hard at work on planning a trip to Vancouver and Seattle, where he will be based for the next couple of months. While home in Austin, he has been riding the T1 ramp, the Skatepark of Austin and riding trails with etnies teammate Taj Mihelich. The weather has been ridiculously hot in Austin. Empire BMX had a locals' contest this past weekend that Sandy hung-out at.

Edwin Delarosa
went on an Animal Bikes trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Columbus, Ohio. They rode a campus in Ohio that was pretty bad-ass. Edwin has been complaining that the weather is too hot to go out during the day to ride, so he has been holding off until the evenings to hit the streets. Edwin shot some pictures with Ride BMXҒs photographer Mark Losey this past week. Edwin is planning on going to the Vans Triple Crown in Cleveland, Ohio coming up on July 11-13.

Nate Hanson
has been getting back in the swing of things after returning from the Props Mega Tour 2. He has been dealing with a leaking roof on his condo, with workmen tearing out walls and all that good stuff. Nate has been riding at the Primo compound, as well as hitting-up private sessions at Skate Street. Hes been working at TIP, as well as at his and his brother's new warehouse in Lake Forest where they are going to be working on monster trucks. Nate went off-roading this past weekend out in the desert.

Josh Stricker
just finished this semester at school, where he carried a B-plus across the board on all his classes. He has a couple of weeks off before entering his final semester in college, which will last eleven weeks. Josh has been riding trails with friends and he also went to New York City to ride with etnies teammate Edwin Delarosa and to film with Bob Scerbo.

After tying the knot in Appleton, Wisconsin with his beautiful new wife Pattie, Dave Freimuth
took off to Portugal, where he hung-out for four days with Pattie, then competed in the World's.
After that, the couple will be enjoying some quality time together down in Malaga, Spain, where they will be chilling at etnies teammate Ruben Alcantara's apartment.

John Heaton
went down to Dave FreimuthҒs wedding, as well, where he had lots of fun. He then drove straight back to Toronto (a twelve-hour drive) where he got himself ready to take off for the World's in Portugal this past weekend.

Brian Terada
has been getting back into the groove now that hes back from the East Coast (Props Mega Tour 2), resuming his sessions at Skate Street Skatepark with his friends. He also went out to Woodward West, where he said he had an awesome time. Brian has been working at the Bike store in Camarillo, as well as helping a friend out to do some construction--hanging drywall, laying some tile and general labor.
