Heading To Slam City

Apr 30 2003 / Wednesday

Mike V is still in Australia kicking off his Farewell Tour with Jesse Fritsch and Steffan Attardo. They will be making an appearance at the Slam City Jam in Vancouver at the end of the week. Mike V & The Rats will also be playing a gig at the Global X Games in Whistler, BC on May 18.
Elissa Steamer is currently in Florida with her mother, who is ill, but Elissa is planning on flying overseas to London for another Bootleg video premiere this week. Shell be back right after the premiere to hang out with her mom.

Fabrizio Santos went to Tennessee over the weekend with Split to do a demo and autograph signing. HeҒs back now and is planning on leaving on May 1 for the Slam City Jam contest. When he gets back from Slam City, he's going to Japan with another one of his sponsors. Whats funny is that Fabrizio is going to Europe for all those contests right after his Japan trip. It's nothing but non-stop action for this man.

Carlos De Andrade was supposed to get back from Brazil last night, but there's been no word from him yet. Carlos travels to San Antonio, Texas on May 15-18 to compete in the global X Games. HeҒll be representing Brazil (and etnies, of course!)

Rob G left last Thursday to Vancouver with all the Popwar pros. They went up there a week early to do a couple of demos and to go street skating for some video footage. Seems they have one of their ams, Aaron Johnson from Canada, taking them around the area as their tour guide. Rob will be skating in the Slam City contest at the end of the week.

Chris Lambert and I(team Manager) will be leaving for Slam City this Wednesday. Hes excited about entering, because he ended up placing well and winning some money at the last contest I took him to. Slam City, here we come!

Lincoln Ueda just got back from Brazil and has also been making plans for Slam City. Lincoln is working on a Thrasher interview that might be coming out this summer, so watch out for that. Lincoln was also picked as an alternate for the Global X Games, so heҒll be in San Antonio with the rest of the Brazilian crew.

Zered Bassett has a page of pure destruction in a Zoo York tour article in the newest issue of Skateboarder. I havent seen a page of coverage quite like that for quite a while. HeҒll be in Vancouver for the Slam City contest, for sure.

Ryan Sheckler began skating pro contests at the beginning of the year and has been placing in the top five in every event. Ryan goes to Slam City to continue the carnage. Stay tuned.

Tony Silva and flow team rider Raymond Molinar have been skating with each other a lot lately. They are both staying at my house, where they will be house-sitting for me while we are up in Vancouver for the Slam City contest. Last week, Tony rolled away from a frontside bluntslide to fakie on a rail in San Pedro. Lance Dawes shot photos and told us that they look sick!

Billy Marks is still nursing a rolled ankle. In the meantime, he and his girlfriend just moved into their new place, which is also Billys first apartment. Congratulations go out to Billy for moving out of his parentҒs house. Hes got to be excited! Oh, Billy landed a half Cab to frontside Smith grind (never been done) on a rail last week. YouҒll see the photos!

Josh Harmony, Tony Silva, Austin Stephens, Geoff Rowley, Mark Appleyard, Mike OMeally and I(Team Manager) went skating over the weekend in Granada Hills at a school that Josh wanted to check out. He and Appleyard skated this ten-stair rail where Josh did a frontside noseslide three times for OҒMeally to shoot. Did I film it? You know it! Harmonys working on an article for Skateboarder with OҒMeally.
