Lots of Filming and Contests

Apr 14 2003 / Monday

Mike V borrowed the etnies van to go to San Diego and Las Vegas to do a demo, some autograph signings and a Rats show. He said he had never been so recognized while driving. People were following him just to see if it was really Mike V or not. Mike, along with Jesse Fritsch and Steffan Attardo, are preparing to kick off his Farewell Tour in Australia this month. He is leaving to go to Australia for a couple of weeks and then the Slam City Jam straight from there.

Carlos DeAndrade, Fabrizio Santos and Lincoln Ueda (along with etnies flow rider Wagner Ramos) are all in Brazil right now participating in the Latin X Games. Theyll be down there until the middle of April.

Chris Lambert finally finished his video part for Digital, which premiered at Volcom on April 10. Chris also has a two-page spread in the TransWorld Photo Annual that just came out, featuring a backside flip over a water gap in San Diego.

Elissa Steamer and the rest of her Bootleg teammates are about to premiere their video on April 18 at the Roxy up in LA. After that, the video is supposed to premiere all over the place, starting in Philly and then London.

Rob G (and etnies flow team rider Raymond Molinar) is filming for On Video right now. Rob also has all sorts of footage shot in exotic locations from his recent travels all over the world that is supposed to be included, so watch out for that.

Jesse Fritsch got 3rd place vert in the Etnies European Open in Birmingham, England over the weekend. He was misinformed after his first run--apparently everyone said that he won, so for his second and third run, he tried some high-risk flip tricks and did not do as good as he did on his first run. He was told that the judges just take your best run, but in the end they averaged all three runs instead. So, thatҒs how Jesse ended up with third.

Ryan Sheckler is going to Alabama for the weekend to do a demo and some autograph signings. He also just got back from a World Industries filming trip to Arizona. Hell be in Tucson for a couple of days to do some filming there. Jaya Bonderov was with him to shoot photos.

Josh Harmony skated the Phoenix Am contest over the weekend and made it all the way to the semi-finals. Despite a pair of super-sore legs, he managed to skate very well and ended up with twelfth place.

Zered Bassett is enjoying some time at home in New York right now. He knows not to get too comfortable, because he and the Zoo squad are leaving soon to go to the Slam City Jam in Vancouver, followed-up by a tour of Canada after that. In fact, Z will be on the road until itҒs time to go to Europe in the summer. Nice life.

Tony Silva dislocated his shoulder over the weekend skating the Phoenix Am contest. He popped it out in his run, but kept on skating since it went right back into place. After that we went street skating after the contest at a big four block, where Tony popped it out yet, again.

Billy Marks cant walk as a result of jumping down some big gaps recently. Ever since he got back from Spain, heҒs had some really sore legs, and instead of resting and getting better, Billy just continues to toss his carcass down stuff.
