Mike Escamilla finally got his bike together. It is bright pink--one of the grossest things I have ever seen, but he loves it. He went snowboarding last Wednesday for the first time in about six or seven months. Mike has also been getting his gun and knife addiction taken care of by becoming gun certified.
Taj Mihelich decided he needed a break from everything, so he took off on a solo mission to go on a cruise.
Joe Rich, Ruben Alcantara, Nate Wessel and Garrett Byrnes have been in South Africa for the last week and a half. A friend of T1 loaned the crew a vehicle so they could tour around, all they had to do was pay for gas. Joe got sick while there and also got an infection in his knee from wearing dirty, sweaty pads over an open wound he got in Tasmania. He had to go to hospital and get medication, but it still took a while to get better. They were riding a skatepark that had a gate on it and the skater who ran it gave them a key so they could come back whenever and just let themselves in. The local kids there have some of the worst condition bikes imaginable. They are constantly welding them up, but from what the crew says, you will never hear these kids complain about what they dont have. The same goes for their shoes--some kids have had there etnies re-soled three or four times just to have shoes to ride in! As Wessel put it, "You just donҒt know how good we have it." Besides riding a bunch of street, parks or trails with the local kids, the crew has been surfing, as well--although the water is freezing down there, much to their dismay. The crew has decided that at some point in their travels, they are going to go to Bulgaria to check out Draculas castle. Ahhhhhh.
Ian Morris has been a busy little ninja lately, what with moving into a new warehouse, which is finally done after much hard work. Ian says itҒs like a breath of fresh air, kinda like a fresh start. He has found new motivation to go to work. Ian also moved into a new apartment last week with a little more room and a little closer to work. Ian and the Seventies guys have some serious plans for the warehouse: a street course, a vert ramp and there are rumors of some concrete bowls possibly going in. When not working, Ian has been filming for the Federal video, designing the new Backyard Jam street layout and riding the old mini in the old warehouse. I guess it's all work, though.
Sandy Carson has been riding a bunch lately, whether it be at the newly re-vamped T1 ramp or just cruising the streets of Austin. He also rode the five hip ditch. This past week, Sandy went to Laredo, Texas with some friends to check out the scene there, where they rode a new concrete park that they said was so-so. They also rode street in the town of Laredo, and the guys camped out overnight by the lake. Sandy has been filming for the Federal video, as well as working on Dig magazine. While in Laredo, Sandy took pictures of war protesters.
Volume Bikes Brian Castillo brought Jason Enns to Southern California for ten days and kept him super busy with filming and taking pictures for Volume and Demolition ads. Jason rode at Point X, Vans, street in LA, as well as some ditches. He also rode trails with Ryan "Biz" Jordan out in the 909, then went home last Wednesday to hang with his girl and dogs. Jason will not be going to the etnies Backyard Jam in April.
The weather is getting better in Toronto, so John Heaton has had the opportunity to ride outside. He is still filming for the MacNeil video, which is due out in the Summer. John has been hanging with his girl and they are planning a vacation together somewhere nice and warm. John will be going to Las Vegas pretty soon to clear up some things and to get some riding in.
Josh Stricker has been stoked because the weather has been way better in Philly, where the street sessions have been going down with all his friends. Josh has also been riding the Little Devil warehouse with all the guys. School is almost out for Spring Break, which will be a welcome break for Josh.
Spring is in the air and Edwin Delarosa has been assaulting the streets of New York, taking photos for anything and everything, as well as shooting video.
