The Surface 2 Air 1-Year anniversary party, sponsored by Etnies and media partner Dazed & Confused, was a huge success, gathering some of the most important people in the creative and fashion industry. Curated by 360 Com, the high-profile event was held on March 8 at Surface 2 Air's concept store/gallery in Paris, France.
Etnies/Dazed & Confused 2002 photography contest winner Kenneth Cappello presented giant Repro prints of his sketch books, giant prints of his old work, selected fashion works, and 50 Xerox copies of his work were weatpasted on the basement floor. Kenneth's photography show will continue running until April 10.
A.R.E. Weapons, a N.Y.C punk band including Paul Sevigny (Chloe Sevigny's brother), blessed the crowd with their crazy all-night performance.
Around 400 French/international press and industry people were in attendance - names such as Anna Wintour (Vogue), As Four American Fashion designers, French fashion designer Christophe Lemaire, Martin Scott Jaroet (creative director/co-founder Nylon magazine), all the Dazed & Confused team, Vice magazine team, Diane Pernet from Disciple Films, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Malcolm McLaren, Bernard Wilhem, Sebastien Tellier, model Kate Moss, director Gaspar Noé...and many more.
Custom made Etnies t-shirts were given away in Etnies stamped envelopes to the luckiest attendees, who displayed their appreciation by wearing them on the spot.
With the whole block completely swarmed with people, the party lasted until 1:30 am, when the police came to shut it down.
We'd like to thank Surface 2 Air, 360 Com, Dazed & Confused, Kenneth Cappello, A.R.E Weapons, and everyone else involved in putting together such a party!
