Mike Escamilla arrived home from Tavarua on Saturday and, according to him, he killed plenty of fish (eighteen--including a decent size yellow fin tuna) while spear fishing with Etnies surf team manager Brandon Lillard. Most of the time, the guys were in the water, they would see small sharks all around and beneath them, but on one occasion they had to jump back in the boat when a larger shark came into the vicinity. When Mike got home, he bought himself an underwater camera case so that he can film underwater when he goes to Hawaii this week.
Taj Mihelich has been working at T1, as usual, and had the T1 rock show on Thursday at the Ritz in Austin. He has been riding the Skatepark of Austin with that awesome wooden bowl and has also been finalizing his secret project, soon to be revealed.
Joe Rich, Ruben Alcantara, Nate Wessel and Garrett Byrnes were leaving the beach in Australia one day last week and ran into some friends from Germany completely by chance--amazing! Also last week, they followed some kids to a party for the hell of it and, once again, there were kids there who recognized them from the Forward video--especially Ruben. The guys have been driving a lot and surfing. Nate said he was catching a wave one day and something caught his eye. He looked down and saw a six foot long shark. He tried not to panic and caught the wave the rest of the way in. After that, Nate decided he better hang out with the big group of people in the water. The last part of the week has been wet in Australia, so the guys really havent been riding too much--giving them a chance to recuperate. Other than that, the whole crew has been sightseeing, filming and taking pictures.
Ian Morris has had a crazy schedule lately with lots of traveling. It started last week when he jumped on a plane from London to Oklahoma, where he was taking care of business. Then it was off to Taiwan, where Ian was going to take care of all the manufacturing that goes into Federal bikes. The Ginga Ninja also passed through Los Angeles on his way to Taiwan and had time to hang out with his friends Dave Parrick and Greg Walsh at LAX before jetting off to Taiwan. After this, Ian will be heading to Toronto for the Metro Jam this coming weekend. All of this in the span of ten days!
Sandy Carson is in Mexico with his wife, chilling, hanging out and taking pictures.
Following the crazy snow the East Coast has received lately, Josh Stricker has not been riding outdoors. Pretty much the only riding he has been doing is at the Little Devil warehouse. JoshҒs car got literally buried last week and he had to wait for it to get a little warmer before he could dig it out. He has been attending school (when it was not shut down from the snow).
John Heaton has been on a road trip with some friends for the last week and a half in California, filming for a video. Prior to leaving, he moved out of his good friend (and etnies Canadian rider) Mike Judge's house and back in with his parents.
Besides working on his Blazer, Nate Hanson has been working non-stop on the Primo ramp in the city of Carson, which is nearing completion with its nice, new Skatelite surfacing. Nate decided that his cell phone had screwed up one too many times (the last straw was when it automatically dialed 911), so he killed it with a nail gun!
