Contest season in full swing for etnies team

Aug 14 2002 / Wednesday

o Billy Marks has been chillin'
at home, skating everyday and working on shooting for an Etnies ad. He worked
with Lance Dawes and a buddy of his on sequences, but we need single shot,
so he is going out tomorrow to try to get something else.
o Brian Patch took 1st in the street contest and 2nd in
the Soul Bowl in Huntington Beach last weekend. Now he is off to Denver
for a demo at a skatepark. He will then be competing in the Soul Bowl contest
in Virginia later this month. Once Ruedi and Monika (Etnies Euro office)
tell us what they want for the Euro Champs, we’ll hit Patch up to
go there. After the Soul Bowl comp, he will be traveling to Marseilles and
other locations in Europe for demos and a little vacation.
o Carlos de Andrade
is en route to the X-Games.
o Chris Lambert has been “getting
his skate on” locally, filming with Jody Morris and others. He is
traveling to Idaho and other spots to do Expedition demos for the rest of
the month.
o Elissa Steamer’s birthday
was last week. She's just been chillin' in Florida with her family and friends.
Escrow just closed on her condo in the Ft. Myers area, so she plans to spend
equal time between there and LA.
o Fabrizio Santos came to Sole
Tech yesterday, got product and is chillin' for a while after the Euro Contests.
He also might attend the Euro Champs and is planning a vacation to Thailand
in the near future.
o Jesse Fritsch just finished-up the Tony Hawk Tour. He
said it was amazing, and the best trip he's ever been on. Jesse was reppin'
Etnies hard with stickers on his board, helmet, etc. After going to the
Gravity Games, he will be home practicing before heading to the X-Games.
Jesse is super-psyched about the X-Games since it’s in his home state
of Pennsylvania.
o Lincoln Ueda placed 9th in the
Gravity Games. He just couldn’t get the rhythm he wanted, but was
a crowd favorite, anyway. He’s headed home for a bit just before going
to the X-Games in Philly.
o Ryan Sheckler is still healing
his ankle after breaking it in June. He’s a tough kid who drinks his
milk, so his bones should heal in no time. Sheck just got three tricks in
the new 411 VM #53—all with no pads!
o Mike V is back from
the Tony Hawk Tour and planning his next adventure. He’s taking most
of this month off from travel to help out at home with the kids. He is also
putting some time and focus into Vallely Skateboards.
o Tony Silva stopped by Etnies the
other day to get product before going on the Foundation Tour of California,
which will last until the end of the month.
