What can I say, a whole lot has happened in the last week. Lets go ahead
and talk about the Triple Crown Finals in Oceanside on October 4-7. In
the prelims of the street competition, Carlos DeAndrade managed to qualify
first for the next round while teammate Fabrizio Santos qualified
right behind him with a second slot. Carlos ended up getting fifth overall
and Fabrizio didn't do too bad for someone still nursing a hurt ankle.
Right after the contest weekend, the Etnies team got together for the
first time to shoot photos for our next ad campaign. Mike V, Elissa,
Lincoln, Chris, Rob G, Fabrizio and Carlos
spent most of their Monday and Tuesday having their pictures taken by
Jody Morris. When we wrapped up Tuesday's photo session, Rob G and Fabrizio
jumped into a van with the rest of the New Deal team and went on a road
trip to continue to film for their company video. They'll be gone for
Lincoln Ueda is kind of back from his ankle injury. He got a chance
to roll around on some transitions this weekend. He says his ankle is
still very weak, but it's been two months since he has been on a board.
It's rehab time!
Mike V came through with his sequence this last week, and it wasn't
a photo that Mike typically shoots. Mike also attended the Invert consumer
show this past weekend held in Irvine Ca, where he entered the street
comp. Although the ground was hammered and the course was less than perfect,
Mike was a real trooper. You'll see it when it comes out on TV. Mike's
teammate on Black Label and our am, Adam Alfaro is on the road.
Adam is in New Mexico doing a couple of demos and should be back early
In other am news, Billy Marks rolled his ankle pretty bad and
might be out anywhere from one to three months. I guess the swelling is
still going up, but luckily, nothing is broken.
Speaking of getting work done, Chris Lambert is not only finishing
up on his video part for the Expedition video, but he is also saving up
photos for a Transworld pro spotlight interview.
Ryan Sheckler and Austen Seaholm were both in a CASL contest
this weekend at Palace Park in Irvine, Ca. They were battling it out in
the finals with Austen coming in 1st and Ryan in 2nd. Congrats to our
Anthony Furlong killed it at the O'side contest and placed a very
respectable 5th place in vert. Anthony has been top 10 in pretty much
every contest he's been in this year.
Congrats go out to Jeff "Skunk" Williams (etnies Australia)
for his 4th place finish in the street comp at Invert! He was in the running
to win the best trick as well, when the course got the best of him and
he slammed HARD!
And finally, Carlos DeAndrade has a new mini ramp in his backyard,
so either go skate it or be prepared to see future footage of Carlos ripping
